Road Training

Adults – Road

For our adult road cycling enthusiasts, commencing 28 April 2021, we offer training sessions each Wednesday between 4:15pm and 5:45pm, at the Gold Coast Cycle Centre in Nerang. Our accredited coach is a highly experienced, former professional road cyclist, who will not only assist our recreational members develop their skills, and introduce them to simulated racing, but also guide and nurture our racing members in improving their race craft.

Juniors – Road

Our junior development program is one of the most successful in Australia. With a thriving cohort of juniors under the watchful eye of our accredited coaches, we offer Tuesday and Thursday road training sessions throughout the year, from 4pm to 5:30pm at the Gold Coast Cycle Centre in Nerang. To get the kids started, the club owns a fleet of junior-sized road bikes available for hire.

Track Training

Adults – Track

Held year-round, our Wednesday motor-paced 100 laps of the Nerang velodrome offers a fun training opportunity for our adult members as well as experienced U15 and U17 members. Sessions start at 6pm March-September and 6:30pm October-February.

Starting 23 August 2021, we will be offering adult track training – skills and race craft – on a Monday night on the Nerang velodrome. Run by an accredited coach and experienced track cyclist, these sessions will cater for both beginners/track novices at 5pm and advanced track cyclists at 6pm. When registering via Buncheur, beginners should choose the ‘easy’ session and advanced track riders should choose the ‘hard’ session.

Juniors – Track

Our Thursday junior track training sessions are held on the Nerang velodrome from September through to the QLD Junior State Track Championships which are generally held in December or January. Sessions are staggered across age groups, from 4pm to 7pm. Additional training is then provided to those members who are selected into the QLD Junior Track Team.

 

Buncheur

Registration for all training sessions is done online via Buncheur. Members will need to create themselves an account on Buncheur, which can also be used for Gold Coast Cycling Club hosted racing. Please note that each individual member of a family will require their own email address. Singular email addresses cannot be used for multiple accounts or profiles.

This registration helps cover the cost of the facilities hire, and is an unconditional and mandated requirement of the club’s COVID-Safe procedure. We operate under the Outdoor Sports Industry COVID Safe Plan.

 

Licences

All participants in the club’s training sessions must hold a valid AusCycling Lifestyle (minimum) or Race All Discipline licence. Members of all affiliated AusCycling clubs are welcome; proof of membership must be shown.
